Reflection - the road so far.

Hmm, where do I even begin. See that's the thing, starting something, any 'thing' really, is always a challenge, but whats important, is to get on with it, so let's crack on with it! - Here goes:

I coast, I coast, and I coast. Just smile, keep chillen, and do what I do. It's like a rap song, but it's not -  pretty much my 'signature' kind of my routine on a standard day. And I do enjoy it. Interactions with fellow colleagues, and patients, yep especially the patients - even the difficult ones, and no I'm not kidding.

I am a medical doctor, still tryna find my way, doing the best that I can, sometimes feeling like a deer in a headlights, but shh, no one knows that. Thats the key really, to be confident, - well not really confident, but just 'being good' at what you do. For example, being good at asking for help, or being good at, hmm, anything really, say time management, or by delegating tasks (which also ties in well with effective time management), and most importantly, by being good at working with others, teamwork is so important, I cant stress that enough. - Maybe I can, but yea you get my point.

Being in medicine, it's all about teamwork, See, it's not just doctors that look after patients, its the whole team! - nurses, physio's, Ot's, doctors, social workers, and etc. Without a good communication among each other,  a lot of things, important things will indeed slip away, which in this line of work, it's not really a good thing if you know what I mean. (Daily MDT's help!)

Right anyways, where was i? Oh yea, being a doctor and what not.

So, I tend to say this phrase a lot "Happy days" - Basically, when things are hard, I say "happy days", when things are good, I again go " happy days", and most importantly, come 4:30pm on a standard day, what do I say? yep you guessed it right "happy days" lol, I know its weird, but that's my thing. I picked it up from this really cool consultant, who until this day, still finds me to be a very awkward doctor, but we're still working on our chemistry. It's painfully awkward, but hey, we make it work, lol.

But honestly though, I am tremendously grateful for everything that has happened so far in my life. And even at my lowest points, there are aspects of being a physician that I will never regret.

Sometimes, when I am alone, say walking back from work, or that tiny second before falling asleep, before drifting away into my dreams, I'd reflect on the day, and smile, and go - 'happy days'.

Man, I've been practicing medicine for some time now, and I'm glad, I've chosen medicine as a career.

Alright, I better sign off, I've got early rounds tomorrow - me and my consultant (its a different one, but hey, I do what I do, I coast, I coast, and I coast.

Ps: there's this funny story which involved me, my junior colleague, and a medical student, oh and a nurse!. I'll get to that later at some point. It's a good Christmas story actually, maybe I'll blog about it on xmas day?!

Till next time.
